WebMail Access Overview
As organisations look to exploit the business benefits of web-based Intranet technology, the Web browser has rapidly become accepted as a ubiquitous tool through which to access a wide range of information and services.
WebMail Access is an additional feature of the NET-TEL Universal Information Server (UIS) that can provide a complete Intranet e-mail system as well as offering the ideal e-mail solution for the travelling user.
- E-mail access via a Web browser
- WebMail Access delivers the full benefits of NET-TEL's powerful messaging server technology to the Intranet or travelling user, needing only a Web browser to access the full range of messaging services
- Fully-featured messaging client
- the full power of the NET-TEL's UIS is available via WebMail Access, offering the same wide range of features as NET-TEL's elegant 32-bit Windows application, the Universal Information Client (UIC)
- Simple management
- with WebMail Access it is no longer necessary to deploy and manage a messaging client on each user's desktop system. A significantly lower cost of ownership can be achieved by effectively delivering the application via the server
- Customisable interface
- WebMail Access is easily customisable and can simultaneously offer multiple interface choices, for example, a simple interface for the casual user and a fully featured interface for the power user
- On the road
- WebMail Access is perfect for the travelling user who can access their e-mail with equal ease from an airport Internet kiosk or a handy Palmtop. Additional security can be provided by standard SSL technology
- Avoids desktop overload
- faced with an insatiable demand for ever hungrier applications on the desktop, utilising WebMail Access provides an escape from the upgrade treadmill
- Preserves investment -
as long as existing desktop hardware can run a web browser then WebMail Access facilitates the continued use of low cost client hardware
- Ideal for the "thin" client
- WebMail Access fits perfectly into a "thin client" strategy which encompasses Network Computers (NCs) or NetPCs
- Multi-platform solution
- with the widespread availability of web browsers on all major platforms, WebMail Access delivers a common cross-platform access method
- The perfect complement
- WebMail Access can be used alongside other methods of e-mail access, such that a user can choose the method of access to their message store that is appropriate to their immediate needs. For example a user may use a Windows application such as the NET-TEL UIC from their personal desktop, but may also access their messages via a web browser when in another office or when travelling
