NET-TEL offers messaging and directory products for PCs, workstations and servers.

NET-TEL's products meet the messaging needs of all kinds of enterprise regardless of their mission, size or geography. Our messaging products move patient records between hospitals, planning dossiers around government departments, EDI documents between shipping lines and agents, multimedia objects from advertising agency to client, and e-mail messages everywhere.

The NET-TEL family of software products comprises:

Messaging Clients: which provide the user interface for the preparation, submission, reception and management of electronic mail and for collaborative activities such as group scheduling.
Messaging Servers which collect, store, route and deliver electronic messages.
Security products in the form of the MailGuard™ family of advanced messaging firewall products that counter the threats posed by e-mail and operate on the key messaging protocols of SMTP/MIME and X.400.
Optional Messaging products which provide interconnection to other e-mail systems as well as additional functions for management, security and format conversion.
Directory products which provide everything from a Directory server to the tools to enable a user to search, browse and retrieve directory-held information.
Toolkit products offering APIs, external interfacing and utilities for the development of message-enabled applications.

Product Scope
NET-TEL's messaging and directory products are especially suitable where the requirements are varied and demanding. Many of our clients are leading organisations in their field and have thousands of users who transmit and receive millions of messages per month. NET-TEL's products handle all kinds of message, including interpersonal e-mail, complex documents, multimedia objects and files of any length, structure and content.

NET-TEL Messaging servers support the Internet messaging SMTP/MIME specifications in full. They interwork with all other messaging systems which conform to these specifications, and with the leading proprietary e-mail applications via Connectors.

Communications and Networking
The communications facilities supported by our products are not only exceptionally broad in scope but can also be mixed and matched in any combination:

any LAN and network operating system
private networks based on TCP/IP or X.25
public networks for switched telephone and ISDN links, X.25 connections and X.400 services
Internet mail using SMTP/MIME
GSM radio links - normally for remote mobile users with notebook PCs.

Year 2000 Conformity
From February 1998, all new products released by NET-TEL are Year 2000 conformant. We have also provided a list of existing products which are already conformant. Our checking for Year 2000 conformance follows the guidelines published by the British Standards Institution in their document 'A Definition of Year 2000 Conformity Requirements'.
