Route400 Message Clients
Route400 message clients for Windows, DOS, Macintosh and UNIX enable users, and applications, to prepare messages for transmission to their associated message server, to browse messages held in the message store on the server, and to retrieve messages from the server. Word-processing, spreadsheet and other kinds of document or file can be attached to interpersonal e-mail without restriction using Route400 user agents.

Route400 message client functionality is essentially the same whether the client is connected to the message server via local-area network, or remotely via public network facilities. This is a key feature delivering great value to mobile users.

As with Route400 servers, the message clients also provide the same user functionality whatever the operating system platform. This makes it easy to attach Route400 clients in a mixed-operating-system environment to a single message server. It also means that the user training is basically the same in all cases.

We also supply, as optional products, comprehensive support tools that enable software developers to create their own message-enabled applications, and in many cases this can be achieved with a minimum of effort. Independently developed message-enabled software applications are increasingly important for EDI, workflow management, groupware and other collaborative activities.

Functions
Route400 message clients for Windows, DOS, Macintosh and UNIX deliver full X.400 user agent (UA) functionality to the desktop, providing a powerful mail-management interface for the creation, submission, receipt, manipulation and filing of simple text and multi-part, multimedia messages. Route400 user agents allow users to mix text in many character sets, graphics, files, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, images and soundclips in a single message for delivery to one or several recipients.

Local and remote versions of the product are available and perform with identical user functionality in most respects. Route400 message clients provide similar functionality for users with Windows, UNIX and Macintosh workstations. They provide a consistent interpersonal and process-to-process messaging solution across the broadest range of platforms available from any supplier in the industry. English, French, German and Spanish language versions are available.

The message clients deliver maximum interoperability with the global user community connected to various e-mail applications. Messages can be addressed to recipients via X.400, Internet, proprietary e-mail systems such as MS-Mail, cc:Mail, Notes and GroupWise, and to fax systems. Address types can be combined freely for a given message with multiple recipients.
